Part of our plan is to incorporate Bible audios into our daily rest time routine.Īs the children color quietly or play their electronic games, we have Your Story Hour audios playing in the background. In that moment, we made a commitment to get back to the basics and educate our children in Bible History to make sure we allowed God every opportunity to speak into their lives. That evening, I told Bill about the exchange and his pain matched my own. I had failed to make sure my children knew the most basic of Bible stories. I laughed and replied, “Silly! You know… Noah in the Bible.” His response was a blank look and a slow shake of his head.Įven as I write this, the shame crawls across my heart. I said, “You know, it’s kind of like what Noah did.”įranc (6 years old) looked at me sincerely and asked, “Mommy, who is Noah?” I don’t remember the exact nature of our conversation, but I was talking with the children about what they were doing. Then, there was that light bulb moment that happened several weeks ago… If you asked me about our children’s understanding and knowledge of the Bible, I would have said, “Oh, we are doing great!” with a strong pat on my own back. In our home, we spend a lot of time talking about Jesus and grace, salvation and faith.
